Coach Pineo has been immersed in basketball from a young age, growing up surrounded by accomplished players, trainers, and mentors. Influences such as New England Basketball Hall of Fame member Robert “Bobby” Johnson, Columbia University four-year starter Kathleen Sardo, and Division I coach and NBA scout Scott Spinelli helped shape his understanding of the game and built the foundation for his strong reputation within the basketball community.
For many years, Coach Pineo has worked alongside Coach Spinelli, helping organize and coach exposure combines for prospective Division I, II, and III athletes. His responsibilities have included on-court instruction, player evaluation, and detailed game-film breakdown. In addition to his work at the combines, he has led numerous clinics and training sessions for local student-athletes, focusing on skill development and basketball IQ.
Central to Coach Pineo’s coaching philosophy is his commitment to true player development. He believes in developing athletes from the ground up—building strong players and cohesive teams—rather than relying on talent that has already been developed by other programs. His passion for teaching fundamentals has helped many players excel and has contributed to his teams being recognized throughout New England.
